I almost stepped in it.

The pitfalls of having an opinion and an outlet to share it.

I won’t be sending out a newsletter this week.

Well, not officially. The one you’re reading doesn’t count.

I’d planned to focus on Coach Dawn Staley’s comments after winning the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship this past Sunday. She said some religious-y stuff. I didn’t appreciate it.

But before I sent anything, I wanted to do some research about her. I didn’t really know her. I didn’t have any perspective on who she is.

I think to publish as I’d intended would have turned out to be a mess for me. I’m glad I took some time to rethink things, and do more research than usual.

Perspective changed the whole story for me. I’m not sure the opinion I was going to share was wrong, but it was certainly uninformed. Information changes things. I now have more information about Coach Staley, and my opinion is now more informed than it was before.

But now I have to re-write the whole thing. Trust me, it’s better this way.

She’s worth it.
