True story. It is 12:38am and I have been replying for an hour. About to hit send. And then it disappeared. Like gone. Does God interfere in technology? Maybe. So suffice it to say, I have listened repeatedly to the 3-4 minute timestamp and I got nothin'. I can't hear what you are hearing. But I'm willing to listen. Full disclosure: I am infinitely less concerned with Mike Winger as I am about Jesus.

And maybe, just maybe, I will write all the other stuff another time, when God sees fit.

I've watched a few times, and I'm backing off on my position in regards to what he said. I'm not in complete agreement, but I don't disagree enough to claim he's wrong in what he said. And right now you're like, "SOoooooo, what was it he said?"

I feel like he twists the first question a bit to make it more of a genetic fallacy than it was. But he doesn't as much as I thought he did on my first listen. I'll touch on this in my next post.

It's like you read my mind.

My take on it is this: of course your upbringing will inform your worldview. That's the nature of nurture. (Ha! See what I did there?) But alsoooo, your upbringing can also lead you to a worldview that ultimately (or partially) contradicts the very worldview that your upbringing nurtured. But long story short, I believe the Holy Spirit trumps all upbringing, whether it supports or inverts said upbringing. How else do you explain Muslims entrenched in Islam who come to faith in Jesus despite the apparent lack of Christian influence and despite the threat of death? Or the Duggar girl who was raised 'Christian' (or whatever that patriarchy movement is) who is only now coming to learn the true meaning and freedom of the Gospel?

I suspect that you think being a member of The Scott Family gave you some unfair pass in life, but the truth is, regardless of upbringing, we all need to make sense of what we were taught as children. Was LFC perfect? I hope the heck not, because what church needs Jesus if it's perfect? That's why Jesus came: for the sick, not the well. We all need to realize our need for Him, not our own self-sufficiency, and there is freedom in that: I am not enough, but He is. Christian or not, as humans we all need to answer the big questions of life: How did we get here? What is man's chief end? What happens when life ends? I believe the simple

answers to those questions lie in Christianity. The more I study--like truly study--the Bible as an adult, the more I am convinced of its truths. The church is imperfect, our families are imperfect, this world is imperfect to say the least...but God loved us enough to send His perfect (yes perfect...lots of thoughts on that post!) Son to die in our place, and will one day make everything right. That's His promise to those who are waiting for Him. That's the story arc of the whole Bible: creation, fall, redemption, restoration. He is patient with us and jealous for us. Enough to send a ball directly to a questioning PK on the Green Monstah perhaps. Wicked cool story by the way.

Just wanted to share some remnant thoughts from my phantom reply that disappeared last week. I'm praying for you, Jeff. Hopefully that last sentiment is received as from an old childhood friend and not from some know-it-all internet acquaintance you used to know thirty years ago.

HA! I understand. I'll go back and listen again, just to make sure I'm being fair. And as for your disclosure, I know. Me too.

Jeff, I've been reading your blog for the last several weeks (and Jeremy's too, coincidentally). Have you heard of Mike Winger? He has a YouTube channel called Bible Thinker (and stand-alone website called biblethinker.org) and does a live Q+A every other Friday. The first question is pre-selected and he researches it thoroughly; the remaining questions he answers live as people enter them into the chat. Anyway, all that to say, I was listening as I drove this morning, and I thought you might be interested in Question #1. I haven't listened to this particular episode in entirety yet, but I wanted to pass him along as a resource. Thought he might provide some food for thought. He has for me.

Hey, Jill!

First, thanks for reading. You can't possible know what it means to us writers when someone tells us they read our work. And then your willingness to take time to comment... So meaningful! In return, I will be evermore diligent in informing others that Cheerleading IS a sport. ;-)

I think someone else mentioned Pastor Mike to me before, but I didn't look him up. I've begun to listen to episode 105. Is this the one you are referring to?

Loved question 1. Took a bit of an issue with his answer. I think if I challenged him on it, he'd see his mistake. Given his approach to how he answered other questions, I think he'd own the mistake too. I'd be interested to see if you can find what I'm talking about. It happens sometime between the 3 and 4 minute mark, but kind of develops.

Stay tuned. You've provided me with a writing prompt. :-)

(Also... I don't push back too much on the cheating allegations against TB12. They're just mad he wasn't winning for them. Any haters in Tampa Bay now? Nope. LOL)

Yes! Episode 105. Listening to the remainder of it right now, in fact. I hope it brings you...joy? comfort? appreciation?... to know that I am also praying for you, and not just reading and commenting.

Also, thanks for the cheer plug. 🙃 In return to your return, I will continue to insist to my boys that Tom Brady IS the goat, and not a cheater. Kids these days...
