Who I Am

• I’m a the son, grandson, great-grandson, and brother of evangelical ministers.

• I’m also a husband and father.

• Mostly, I’m a writer.

Over the past twenty years, I've realized that my life as a man didn't had the positive impact I once believed it did. So, I'm taking a critical look at my past and making changes for a better future.

I’ve learned there are many people like me, which means there’s a group of … us.

Just a heads up…

I chose the name, The Unfiltered Scribe, for a reason. I don’t parse words. I’m brutally honest in how I talk about my past. It’s the only way I know to grow.

You see, I’ve come to terms with the shame I carried and I’ve let it go. I don’t believe in it. It can be unsettling when we start to notice fractures in our personhood. Releasing shame’s grip has helped move past the unsettled feeling.

The Unfiltered Scribe is a newsletter intent on building a community for like-minded people to share in life’s journey, offer support, and exchange insights as we navigate the complexities of maturation together.

Use my stories, anecdotes, articles and other ramblings to engage with your own thoughts. Dig deeper, and share your own insights. Invite others to do the same.
